Those who were counted of them were twenty-three thousand, every male from a month old and upward; for they were not counted among the children of Israel, because there was no inheritance given them among the children of Israel.

13. Be careful that you don't offer your burnt offerings in every place that you see;

14. but in the place which the LORD chooses in one of your tribes, there you shall offer your burnt offerings, and there you shall do all that I command you.

15. Notwithstanding, you may kill and eat meat within all your gates, after all the desire of your soul, according to the LORD your God's blessing which he has given you. The unclean and the clean may eat of it, as of the gazelle, and as of the deer.

16. Only you shall not eat the blood. You shall pour it out on the earth like water.

17. You may not eat within your gates the tithe of your grain, or of your new wine, or of your oil, or the firstborn of your herd or of your flock, nor any of your vows which you vow, nor your freewill offerings, nor the wave offering of your hand;

18. but you shall eat them before the LORD your God in the place which the LORD your God shall choose, you, your son, your daughter, your male servant, your female servant, and the Levite who is within your gates. You shall rejoice before the LORD your God in all that you put your hand to.

19. Be careful that you don't forsake the Levite as long as you live in your land.

27. You shall not forsake the Levite who is within your gates, for he has no portion nor inheritance with you.

28. At the end of every three years you shall bring all the tithe of your increase in the same year, and shall store it within your gates.

29. The Levite, because he has no portion nor inheritance with you, and the foreigner living among you, and the fatherless, and the widow, who are within your gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hand which you do.

1. The priests the LEVITES, all the tribe of Levi, shall have no portion nor inheritance with Israel. They shall eat the offerings of the LORD made by fire and his portion.

2. They shall have no inheritance among their brothers. the LORD is their inheritance, as he has spoken to them.

3. This shall be the priests' due from the people, from those who offer a sacrifice, whether it be ox or sheep, that they shall give to the priest the shoulder, the two cheeks, and the inner parts.

4. The first fruits of your grain, of your new wine, and of your oil, and the first of the fleece of your sheep, you shall give him.

5. For the LORD your God has chosen him out of all your tribes, to stand to minister in The LORD's name, him and his sons for ever.

6. If a Levite comes from any of your gates out of all Israel, where he lives as a foreigner, and comes with all the desire of his soul to the place which the LORD shall choose;

7. then he shall minister in the name of the LORD his God, as all his brothers the LEVITES do, who stand there before The LORD.

8. They shall have like portions to eat, in addition to that which comes from the sale of his family possessions.
