14. He said, 'The God of our fathers has appointed you to know his will, and to see the Righteous One, and to hear a voice from his mouth.

15. For you will be a witness for him to all men of what you have seen and heard.

16. Now why do you wait? Arise, be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.'

17. "When I had returned to Jerusalem, and while I prayed in the temple, I fell into a trance,

18. and saw him saying to me,'Hurry and get out of Jerusalem quickly, because they will not receive testimony concerning me from you.'

19. I said, 'Lord, they themselves know that I imprisoned and beat in every synagogue those who believed in you.

20. When the blood of Stephen, your witness, was shed, I also was standing by, and consenting to his death, and guarding the cloaks of those who killed him.'

21. "He said to me,'Depart, for I will send you out far from here to the Gentiles.'"

16. But arise, and stand on your feet, for I have appeared to you for this purpose: to appoint you a servant and a witness both of the things which you have seen, and of the things which I will reveal to you;

17. delivering you from the people, and from the Gentiles, to whom I send you,

18. to open their eyes, that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive remission of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in me.'

PAUL, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and our brother Sosthenes,

1. Am I not free? Am I not an apostle? Haven't I seen Jesus Christ, our Lord? Aren't you my work in the Lord?

2. If to others I am not an apostle, yet at least I am to you; for you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord.

For I am the least of the apostles, who is not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the assembly of God.
