7. The LORD appeared to Abram and said, "I will give this land to your offspring."He built an altar there to The LORD, who had appeared to him.

8. He left from there to go to the mountain on the east of Bethel and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Ai on the east. There he built an altar to the LORD and called on The LORD's name.

4. to the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first. There Abram called on The LORD's name.

5. Lot also, who went with Abram, had flocks, herds, and tents.

6. The land was not able to bear them, that they might live together; for their substance was great, so that they could not live together.

7. There was strife between the herdsmen of Abram's livestock and the herdsmen of Lot's livestock. The Canaanites and the Perizzites lived in the land at that time.

8. Abram said to Lot, "Please, let there be no strife between you and me, and between your herdsmen and my herdsmen; for we are relatives.

9. Isn't the whole land before you? Please separate yourself from me. If you go to the left hand, then I will go to the right. Or if you go to the right hand, then I will go to the left."

10. Lot lifted up his eyes, and saw all the plain of the Jordan, that it was well-watered everywhere, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, like the garden of The LORD, like the land of Egypt, as you go to Zoar.

11. So Lot chose the Plain of the Jordan for himself. Lot traveled east, and they separated themselves the one from the other.

12. Abram lived in the land of Canaan, and Lot lived in the cities of the plain, and moved his tent as far as Sodom.

13. Now the men of Sodom were exceedingly wicked and sinners against The LORD.

14. The LORD said to Abram, after Lot was separated from him, "Now, lift up your eyes, and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward,

15. for all the land which you see, I will give to you, and to your offspring forever.

16. I will make your offspring as the dust of the earth, so that if a man can count the dust of the earth, then your offspring may also be counted.

17. Arise, walk through the land in its length and in its width; for I will give it to you."

18. Abram moved his tent, and came and lived by the oaks of Mamre, which are in Hebron, and built an altar there to The LORD.

For I have known him, to the end that he may command his children and his household after him, that they may keep the way of The LORD, to do righteousness and justice; to the end that the LORD may bring on ABRAHAM that which he has spoken of him."

Now therefore, restore the man's wife. For he is a prophet, and he will pray for you, and you will live. If you don't restore her, know for sure that you will die, you, and all who are yours."

ABRAHAM planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba, and called there on the name of The LORD, the Everlasting God.

3. ABRAHAM rose early in the morning, and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son. He split the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went to the place of which God had told him.

4. On the third day ABRAHAM lifted up his eyes, and saw the place far off.

5. ABRAHAM said to his young men, "Stay here with the donkey. The boy and I will go yonder. We will worship, and come back to you."

6. ABRAHAM took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son. He took in his hand the fire and the knife. They both went together.

7. Isaac spoke to ABRAHAM his father, and said, "My father?"He said, "Here I am, my son."He said, "Here is the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?"

8. ABRAHAM said, "God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son." So they both went together.

9. They came to the place which God had told him of. ABRAHAM built the altar there, and laid the wood in order, bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar, on the wood.

10. ABRAHAM stretched out his hand, and took the knife to kill his son.

11. The LORD's angel called to him out of the sky, and said, "ABRAHAM, ABRAHAM!"He said, "Here I am."

12. He said, "Don't lay your hand on the boy or do anything to him. For now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me."

13. ABRAHAM lifted up his eyes, and looked, and saw that behind him was a ram caught in the thicket by his horns. ABRAHAM went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering instead of his son.

because ABRAHAM obeyed my voice, and kept my requirements, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws."
